Church Rate Move Causes Tie in Clurcy Parish Meeting

On June 26 1845 a meeting chaired by Rev Richard Rigg debated a church rate to fund roof repairs. A proposal for a two pence in the pound rate drew a 16 to 15 vote in favor, with an amendment opposing the rate. the chairman refused to divide the parish and promised no one would be compelled.
