The Annual General Court met at the Offices in New Bridge Street Blackfriars with Henry Frederick Stephenson in the chair. The secretary presented the year 1854 receipts and disbursements and the Auditors reported accounts correct. The actuary outlined 847 proposals 77 accepted 70 declined with 686 policies on life, 40004380 total risk, and 6,997 policies at year end. The fund rose to 1,402,282 17s 6d with claims rising from cholera war and other causes, while reserves remained sound. Directors noted two deaths Sir Thomas Frankland Lewis and John Mendicant and elected Hon. Miward P.Bouverie MP as director and Captain Gordon to audit positions. resolutions to renew auditors and appoint John Trowell were carried.
