Capetown reports White and French troops storming Blandslang and relieving Ladysmith amid 8000 Boers. Buller plans multi pronged offense with 80 000 troops while Glencoe victory sparks national enthusiasm and debate on strategy. Rhodes and Basuto movements cited.
In Rangoon on October 2 serious riots erupted in Lower Chindwin district. Sepoy soldiers from the Karr military police, barred from the Burmese theater, breached restraint and attacked English officers injuring several. Causes include extended detention in the cholera district as other outbreaks are reported.
Paris reports that the Memoriale Diplomatique and Courier du soir learn from sources that following the first clashes in South Africa, the major powers will intervene under the Hague Convention terms.
