Despatches describe Sandon’s devastation from a Thursday night fire with miles Rambough’s death confirmed. Kaslo drives relief, sending $1800 cash and supplies aboard a relief train while townspeople open homes and a band concert honors Kaslo.
Nelson workers raise funds and supplies for Sandon fire victims aboard the International steamer. A relief committee led by Ernst and Ferguson canvassed merchants, securing cash and goods totaling over 800 by dusk. Additional subscriptions and clothing drives followed, with towns like Kaslo already pledging large support.
Tickets sold quickly for the Pinafore performance to be held tomorrow evening at the Opera House to raise funds for the Landon Relief. The sale netted hundreds of dollars and the venue is expected to be crowded. A 10 am store sale plan aims to capture the last rush, with rehearsals completed and plans for an outstanding amateur production led by Herr Steiner. Samples indicate a rich lead with copper carbonates zinc and trace gold and silver, copper content over 26 percent.
