Nelsons Dominion Day Celebration Grand Parade Tomorrow
Nelson hosts Dominion Day with a two day holiday and a grand programme. Trades Procession opens at 11 00 am with merchants unions and bands in line and floats. Afternoon events include baseball for the Kootenays championship, races for children, regatta swimming and canoe events, lacrosse football and rifle shooting, all centered in Nelson with regional participation.

Water Carnival lights up Kootenay Lake with dazzling finale
Two day Water Carnival ends with 8:30 pm illumination along the lake. Spectators witness lantern lit boats, steamers with searchlights, and a night spectacle featuring the Eiffel Tower and Cleopatra's Needle effects. Prizes include a sterling silver berry set, a camera outfit, a liquor set, a fishing kit, a Winchester rifle, and a lamp. Judge’s stand aboard the P. R. houseboat. Rules require at least four lights per boat, a ten foot painter, proper stern fastening, a bailer dipper, no sails on sailboats, and no firecrackers or bombs on the water.

Nelson School Board Elects Swannell and Urges Central Control
At the annual meeting in Central School T. W. Swannell was elected trustee replacing retiring Dr. Hall. A resolution urged the provincial government to grant the city control of its schools, acquire block 49 for a potential High School site, and seek 12000 for school buildings. Another motion asked the local Government Agent to allow jail prisoners to work on school grounds this summer. About 20 ratepayers attended. Swannell chaired and Soady acted as secretary. Dr. Arthur praised the principal and the progress of the past year.
