O A Sutherland, Kaslo native and Ottawa customs official, died in Winnipeg about two weeks ago of pneumonia. A masquerade ball at Rossland yielded Arthur Dandurand first prize as Happy Holligan. Trial of George Ragsdale for Dusty Dean murder in Spokane set for January 20, with Ragsdale known in Moyie and Cranbrook.
Local notes report the Odd Fellows plan an eighth annual ball on Monday evening January 18 with a committee appointed to organize sub chairs for the event. The lodge may offer a hotel supper with tickets set at $2, and efforts aim to make this the best Moyie ball yet.

The co operative store inaugurated by the Trail Miners Union opened for business a few days ago. It carries groceries now with plans to stock men’s furnishings later. Profits are to be divided among stockholders semiannually based on each customer’s purchases. All sales are cash or cash equivalent.
