A dedicatory note urging defense of the metropolis against invasion. The speaker pledges loyalty to the British empire and offers service to protect property and inhabitants in times of threat.
The London Gazette reports the Crown declares the New York fever to be plague and imposes a 14 day quarantine for ships from New York or its ports. Deadly cases require burning or sinking of contaminated items. Standgate Creek becomes the sole quarantine port. Multiple government offices issue directions to enforce the order.
A long roster lists officers for many volunteer infantry and yeomanry units with names such as Foljambe, Win, Wheatley, Dyer, and Jones as captains and lieutenants. Additional battalions and artillery details follow, including Allan M Lean and Alexander M Lean, with ranks from lieutenant to colonel. The dispatch closes noting Spain’s conduct amid tensions with Britain and urging decisive government action.

Also notes Captain Russert s Ireland rebellion trial and a Hampshire coast arming plan approved by the Admiralty.
