Toulon Skirmish Report From Memoirs of 1793
Extracts from a Toulon dispatch dated October 18 1793 describe British Piedmontese and Neapolitan troops forming lines before Toulon. A patrol engaged the French at La Hauteur des Avennes and in front of the redoubts. reinforcements covered retreat and a commune night march returned to Teulon. The account praises Lt Col Chevalier de Revels Captain Wemyss and Lt St George for their conduct. Cape Le Brun incident noted with Governor Elphinstone’s report to Lord Hood.
