The event features Van's Rhythm Orchestra performing Old Time and modern dance music at the Virden Farr Grounds Dance Pavilion. Admission is 35. The last dance of the season is scheduled for Wednesday September 27.
Community notes recount visits of Mr and Mrs Robt Jolley of Peebles Sask and Mrs G Kauman of Hodgeville to Miniota area. Students and staff hold court whist at the school, while local sports, travel and social events include a tennis association meeting and an upcoming talk by radio figure Mr Coates at Miniota. A salt carload sale is advertised by United Stores Ltd. Miniota.
D. R. P. Coates known as Uncle Peter is scheduled to visit Minicta next week. An outstanding event is set for Thursday October 3rd with Coates expected to attend.
Fifteen years ago harvest wages were four dollars a day. Brandon streetcar service ended for buses. The Methodist church was purchased by Miniota Masonic lodge. Mrs P J Beveridge and Harry returned from Scotland. A dominion loan of fifty million dollars was over subscribed in three hours. A local car owner was fined seven dollars for lacking current year plates. The U G began operating the Manitoba government elevator with War rington as grainbuyer. An extra room for Miniota school pupils opened in the Masonic hall with Miss M Dudley as teacher.
The Crop Testing Plan analyzed 24000 wheat samples from farmers fields revealing many true to variety results but thousands grow poor money losing mixtures and unsuitable varieties. Farmers with C or mixtures should seek better seed next spring and many districts offer certified true to variety stock at modest premiums. High quality wheat is a vital need for Canada Britain and allies.
