Unjustified pessimism cited as main wheat market trouble

Western economist Dr. W. W. Swanson of the University of Saskatchewan argues pessimism is the chief immediate problem in the wheat market. He notes Europe has not reached prewar acreage for wheat and rye planting has fallen, due to high recent yields rather than larger acreage. He cites U.S. stocks estimates as overstated by 150,000,000 bushels and warns against treating the blue eagle campaign as permanent. He praised Canadian banks' handling of the crisis and supported the royal commission’s constructive potential.
