Fall rye varieties licensed for prairie Canada.
The Petkus and Sangaste fall rye varieties were licensed for sale in Canada early in 1957, joining Dakold and Antelope as the only prairie suitable varieties. Sangaste and Petkus differ in origin, maturity, and winter hardiness, with limitations for prairie adaptation. Tetra Petkus is unsuitable for the prairie region due to severe winter-kill.
