Smallest Paintings Claim by London Painter
Miniature paintings by Stanley A. Burchett, formerly of the Grenadier Guards, are claimed to be the smallest pictures in the world with 20 fitting on a postage stamp. Two pieces about an eighth of a stamp have been bought by the queen, including a seascape at dawn and a still life of marigolds in a blue vase. A microscope is needed to view the details, and many doubt they are real water colors painted with a brush.
