Mrs Wes Leland and Mrs R E Clegg attended a hospital meeting at Hamiota Friday afternoon. Harvey OCallaghan of Monk Lake, holidaying in the district, left for Blind River Ontario last week. Mr and Mrs Eric Gibbon and Mr and Mrs A McPherson of Winnipeg spent Labor week with Wes Leland's family.

Mossop Rites Reflect Local Pioneer Family Ties
Mrs. William G. Mossop died September 2 in Virden hospital after a long illness. Born Clara Emily Lel ond December 26, 1889, she was the youngest daughter of Jeremiah Lel ond, an Arrow River district pioneer. Survived by son William J. Mossop and three daughters, six grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, she lay in state at Holy Trinity Church with burial at Arrow River cemetery. Rev. C. I. Rothery officiated. pallbearers were six nephews. Funeral arrangements were handled by Me a poetical term for Scotland, a M.Connell Bros. Funeral Home in Hamiota.

The WMS and WA groups met at Mrs Wes Leland's on Thursday September 3 with 14 members and 5 visitors. The chair was Mrs W Tennant. Plans for the anniversary were made including an October fowl supper. A donation to the church was given. Reports covered visits, letters on liquor policy, fund-raising from Travelling Baskets totaling 26.51, and new Africa study material. A public speaking paper by Miss Margaret Leland was praised. Rev Geddes closed with prayer and a luncheon followed.

Newlyweds Mr and Mrs Wallace Henderson, married August 22, were guests of honor at a Cran dall Orange Hall community gathering on September 3. Wm Davis on MC led community singing, the O Conner quartet sang, Mrs Wm Taylor performed two solos, Walter Lipscomb offered district good wishes, Dennis Johnston gave a wooden rocking chair as a gift, and lunch was provided by the Shower Committee.
