Prenatal Clinic Offered by Hamiota Health Centre

The Hamiota and district Health Centre announces a monthly prenatal clinic every fourth Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:00 for medical checks and 2:00 to 4:00 for an educational session. Sessions cover physical changes, breathing techniques, labor tours, infant care, postnatal care, dental care and contraception. Fathers and babysitters welcome. First clinic October 26.

Speech Sessions Set For Strathclair Speech Festival

The Birdtail River Speech Festival will be held at Strathclair November 2nd, 3rd and 4th with sessions on the 2nd and 3rd, folk dancing on Friday, and a Friday evening concert. The festival unites schools, music educators, private teachers, students and families to learn, perform and share talents while adjudication helps improve performances and fosters arts interaction among youth. Move Clocks Back One Hour October 30th

Winnipeg Manitoba clocks revert to standard time on Sunday October 30 at 3 a.m. turning back to 2 a.m. under the Official Time Act of 1967. Daylight saving runs province wide from the last Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October each year.

Wreck on Arrow River derails 21 freight cars

A west bound CNR freight derailed near Arrow River at 5 a.m. on a calm day, splitting rails and sending eighteen loaded cars off track. Three more cars derailed by twisted rails remained upright. Pipeline fears prompted helicopters and heavy assistance as 200 workers cleared the scene and allowed a first train to pass by 4 p.m.
