Horses No Longer Compulsory in Mounted Police Training

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reports mounted training no longer requires equitation as a compulsory subject. A mounted section remains, with about 20 recruits per troop across Ottawa Winnipeg Regina Edmonton and Vancouver. In the year ending March 31 1936 the number of horses fell to 241 while transport included 442 cars 28 motorcycles 19 trucks 10 cruisers 17 patrol boats 226 saddle horses 15 team horses and 388 sleigh dogs.
