A reader named Joan Browy lauds campaign volunteers for challenging money and press forces and upholding courage in a struggle for economic liberty. She envisions Canada achieving social justice over property rights and recalls past liberal freedoms won through struggle.
Miss Sean Black laid the corner stone of Two Creeks school as the eldest pupil attending the institution. The event followed Rev Pankhurst conducting Methodist anniversary services in the district.
Sunday morning brought about seven inches of snow in the area. At Virden on Friday night the Arrieta Music Club staged K M S Pinafore. Miss Eduie Rowan had an appendectomy at Brandon Hospital last week. At McRae attended the Provincial United Young Peoples Union in Brandon on Saturday. Mrs Patterson of Brandon, guest of Mr and Mrs W Mossop, returned home last week.
Thanksgiving declared a public holiday by order in council. Harvest services planned at Holy Trinity with Rev. S J Wickens. Rev J A Stephen led anniversary services at Birtle. YP Society reorganizes with Edna Sararas as president and several officers named. Election results for Marnette constituency show Glen 6850 and Peden 6010 with deposits losses and a Souris recount flipping Liberal win.
Local residents urge the council to clear scrub by the side of main roads to prevent snow travel issues. They warn thinning funds may force road curtailment and dirt roads again, stressing tax money should fix the problem and protect investments.
