Winnipeg visitors Jean and J. Warren toured Regina and Rouleau last week. Girls Auxiliary held a successful tea and betour at Mrs Rollins home raising 314. Next Miniota United church services noted. For sale six young Yorkshire pigs offered by Alex MacKean and a Hawaiian guitar with course of music. Help wanted for German speaker Oswald Blaich seeks work November 1.
United States Ltd in Miniota promotes Groce ter ia apples with a note on early arrival and low price. The piece also mentions government relief of about 4000 for municipal projects including Scral cutting and row work under the scheme. The editor attended Brandon’s weekly newspapermen field, and R. A. lheey gave a strong education address. The United Church U P 3 will meet at the Sharpe home on Wednesday October 14.
A large crowd attended the funeral of the late L. Mcdonald on Thursday afternoon. The service, held at the family home and conducted by Rev. J. A Stephen, featured the deceased and family hymns. The body was buried in Elkhorn cemetery.
The Lord Bishop of Brandon visited Miniota on Sunday night and was greeted by a large crowd. The meeting approved continuing current services with Mr Henderson in charge and an ordained minister to visit every two months for communion and other offices. A school tank projectwork progresses with cleanup tasks and ground leveling planned before freeze up.
A.P.A. members gathered in the Miniota church basement on Wednesday evening to bid farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Goodman. The event featured contests, games, and dancing. Mr. Horner presented a token of appreciation for Mr Goodman’s service in church organizations. A reorganization elected officers including President George Bruce Jr. and Vice President Connie Andrew.
Sunday and Monday activities drew large crowds with Rev. N B Meleneghban of Onkner delivering addresses. The evening concert featured Miss McLenehan’s Toy Orchestra and various performances. Proceeds reached about $155 from the weekend.
Mrs D F McDonald and family express heartfelt gratitude for the many expressions of sympathy shown after their recent bereavement.
A curling group calls a meeting this Friday night at 8 30 in the antiseptical hall to conduct its business. Members are urged to attend.
A quiet wedding united Lillian Lelond and Joseph Becker at The Mansa McNutt Sask on a Saturday evening with Leininger officiating. The bride wore blue celanese crepe, Wanda Becker served as bridesmaid, Frank Becker was best man. The newlyweds plan to reside on the Calder farm with warm wishes from family and friends.
Lila Rae Stephens of Kelwood wed the Rev. on Friday October 2 at St Pauls Church McGregor. The ceremony was performed by Rev L. Armstrong with details incomplete in the report.
Phyllis Mary Hathaway wed Albert Nesbitt in the United church of Oakner Manitoba on September 30 at 7 p.m. Rev. N. B. Meleneaghan and Rev. J. Dunnett officiated. The gown was ivory satin with a semi trail. The bridal party included Vivian Hathaway who sang and played piano. Gifts included a crystal necklace for the bride and an amethyst ring for the sister. The couple departed by ear to Brandon Winnipeg Regina and points west.
Gladys Ltene daughter of J. E. Johnson of Decker married David Alexander son of Mr. and Mrs. Taylor of Poplar Point on Wednesday October 7 at 2 p.m. Rev H J Bowman officiated. The ceremony featured autumn decor, two flower girls Fay and Doris Francis, and a reception at the brides' home followed by greetings and relatives visits in Southern Manitoba.
