A garbled local notice stresses taxes as lifeblood of the community. It urges citizens to pay tax bills promptly to fund schools, roads, hospitals, and municipal services, noting delays burden elected officials and hinder public life.
Grace Ellen Macdonald daughter of Mrs E H Macdonald wed George William Barrett son of Mr and Mrs G W Barrett at St Pauls Church on Saturday September 8 officiated by Rev P Bruce Thornton. Hugh Allen played the organ with ushers H Fairburn and A Joddard. Guests included out of town visitors Mr and Mrs W Macdonald Mordlach Sask and Mr and Mrs Horace Macdonald Minnesota along with Hazelton apartments couple to reside there after the ceremony.
The editor notes this issue closes four years since returning from overseas. About 95 percent of subscribers are due this month to renew or cancel. Notices were sent to expirations and readers are asked to notify if they wish to stop. The paper aims to reflect the district well and remain at a $2 rate. The publisher hopes for continued reader support and more renewals next year.
