Hatchery supply policy for turkeys revealed

Saskatchewan Agriculture Department released the 1954 49 hatchery supply policy for turkey producers. The plan outlines requirements for selling hatchery eggs for next year’s poults and notes little change from last year. Applications for flock inspections are due by October 1 to enable efficient inspection routing, with late filings causing inconvenience and extra costs. Saskatchewan hatched 1,263,537 turkey poults this year, and more than 32 percent of turkey eggs hatched were imported, mostly from the United States, signaling a potential market for locally produced hatchery eggs in early 1959.
