Rural council approves revised assessment and tax rolls
The Rural Council met as Court of Revision on October 20 approving appeals and changes to Schedules A through E. It adopted the 1956 General Assessment and Business Tax Rolls, scheduled a December 14 tax sale, and authorized the Reeve to purchase sale certificates. A November 2 special meeting was set to list lands liable for tax sale. The Reeve and officers were named delegates to the Union Convention in Winnipeg on November 22 with $50 expenses each. Other items included road construction proposals with Imperial Oil and Department of Public Works, water drainage to prevent Beulah flooding, a request to make Rapid City Miniota road part of the Provincial Trunk Highway System, and other bylaw readings and land transfers. Total payments of $47,945.19 were approved before adjournment.
