John Wythe to Exhibit at Royal Winter Fair in Toronto

Local notes show John Wythe hosting an Angus yearling Debenham Lucy 31st shown by his son John at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto this month. Cowley Webster of Two Creeks also to enter the Angus class. Miniota United W.A. Bazaar set for Saturday November 10 in the church parlor with fancy work home cooking fish pond candy and 25c silver tea. Crandall exchange wants telephone poles sold at 100 dollars each. Council approves by laws and tax actions including a tax sale December 13 and adding hospital debts to tax roll. Ratepayers meeting November 7 in Arrow River hall. Poppy Fund donations made by Reeve councillors and secretary. Payments of 15138.71 approved before adjournment.

Beulah W A Bazaar Boosts Beulah United Church Support

Beulah United Church W A reports a successful bazaar with proceeds of 241 dollars 62 cents raised at St Wilfrid’s and other visits last week. The annual bazaar will be held Friday November 2 in the community hall from 3 pm featuring fancy work sewing home cooking produce aprons novelty a 25 cent ladies dip candy and bran tub for children and a silver tea.

Local Anglican Clergy Changes and W I Fundraiser Draw

A discussion group met twice at the Bickford and Cruden homes. Rugs won at the W I dance by Mrs J Maduke and G Drysdale to fund the hospital apportionment. Rev B O Whitfield ended his St Wilfrids ministry and moves to St Georges Brandon, receiving a purse and electric lamp from parishioners. he and Mrs Coldman received an electric clock from the congregation. Rev W J Hunter to begin ministry at Swan River in December.

Rural council meeting notes October actions and approvals

The Reeve chaired a rural council meeting on October 22 with one councillor absent. Five Old Age Pension applications (65-69) were approved. Plans include completing the Birtle Virden Highway C using 1952 funds with Public Works consent, gravelling Arrow River road and Valley road under construction, and advertising for tenders. The Secretary Treasurer is authorized to pay the Municipal Commissioner on November 1.
