Church Worship Committee Plans Services Through June

Beulah parish minutes from May 19 outline services through June 30 with announcements for Bible Sunday Dedication to Mission Sunday and Indian Centennial observances. Miniota United Church aims to collaborate with Anglican members during holidays. Church hours shift to 10 15 a m for Miniota and 11 30 a m for Beulah from June 6.

Isabella G C Lt Meets For Smorgasbord Banquet

The G C LT held its final season meeting at the Gordon Campbells home on May 11 entertaining mothers to a Smorgasbord banquet. Glenda Heise proposed the mothers toast. Janice Norrie, Susan Finkbeiner, Arlene Nichol, Julie Clark and Shelley Stewart received Lanyards. The group raised 100 for Slave Days. Games and a sing song followed, and the meeting closed with Taps.

CFB Rivers to become Indian Training Centre

Ottawa announces that the Canadian Forces Base at Rivers Manitoba will be taken over by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development as an on the job training centre for Indian individuals and families. A managing corporation will run the complex with a seven member board. Facilities will serve up to 250 trainees and families with hangars leased to qualifying industries.

B R D Division Teachers Society Holds Annual Meeting

The Birdtail River Division Association of the Manitoba Teachers Society met at Shoal Lake Auditorium on May 20 with about 90 teachers. Officers elected for 1971 72 include President R Bell Strathclair and Treasurer P Turner Birtle. a 1484 dollar budget was approved. Ed Kowalchuk urged teacher involvement in provincial activities unemployment insurance public relations and community roles. A transistor radio door prize went to Beverly Wotton.
