Gas Rate Increase Announced by Manitoba Utility Board

WINNIPEG Inter-City Gas Utilities received approval from the Public Utilities Board of Manitoba to raise natural gas rates. The average residential bill will rise about 20 to 25 dollars annually, the first increase since 1972. The rise reflects higher costs due to government pricing policies and TransCanada Pipelines rate changes. The board commended the company for its purchasing efforts, which save about seven dollars per year for households.
