Manitoba premiers inspect world’s largest crawler tractor
At the Provincial Legislative Buildings the Premier of Manitoba Hon D C Campbell and ministers Hon C Green Lay and Hon C Bell observe the Caterpillar Model D9. Brought by Powell Equipment Co Ltd of Winnipeg, the 39 ton machine debuted in Western Canada for the 1956 highway program and measures 18 feet long 10 feet wide and 10 feet high with a plow capacity of 60 to 80 acres.
