Municipal Fathers Apportion Lands for School Districts

The Miniota council in session on February 29 and March 1, 1912, discussed apportioning land to school districts, consolidations, and forming new districts. They set bids, appointed an arbitrator for Crangleyl and Isabella districts, approved maps, and ordered detailed financial and asset reporting for the local telephone system. They also planned line extensions to Decker and requested state communications permissions.

Pioneer John Fleming Sr Dies in Arrow River District

John Fleming Sr, a district pioneer born in Glasgow in 1832, died Friday at 5:15 am at his daughter’s Arrow River home after Brights disease. He taught in Huron Co Ontario for 13 years before moving west to Arrow River in 1884, leaving a wife and children John Fleming Jr, Mrs. Wm Tennant, and Mrs. Win. Leland. His wife predeceased him about eight years ago. he was noted locally for his long service and was a member of Fleming, Ried & Co. of Greenwich.

Death of W. W. Hooper Pioneer Farmer of Miniota

W. W. Hooper, one of Miniota's earliest settlers, died in Beulah district after a leg injury worsened by age. He came from Hampshire Mac in 1880 with his wife Mrs. Hooper, crossing the Assiniboine by boat. he was over 80 and leaves a grieving wife and several sons as the community offers condolences.

Manuscript Missing from Holy Trinity Pulpit

Local hockey thriller ends in back to back ties

Miniota and Crandell clash on Pridey evening at the urling Rink. Crandell wins 7 6 after extra five minute periods as Miniota fields seven against Crandell's six. The strong effort suggests budding hockey talent needing better practice facilities.

Moving picture bill and community notices in Miniota

Towns react to a forthcoming moving picture showing next week. Armstrong stayed in Miniota en route from Brandon after attending the High Court Meeting of the Canadian Order of Foresters and reports a successful gathering. A memorial service for Mrs. David Fraser was held at the Presbyterian Church with Rev Beattie and Miss Burnett performing. Frank Tyler lost the second finger of his right hand while clearing straw from grain equipment. the injury was accidental and painful.

July Carnival of the Season a Success

The Curling Rink hosted a picturesque masquerade on Tuesday March 20 drawing large crowds despite bad roads. The Crandell Elephant won first prize in the comic class for its clever workmanship. Prizes went to Mrs A Wright Canada Miss J Hamilton Spanish Dancer Stewart Lee Indian Chief A E Hamilton Champlain and others with winners in Ladies Fancy, Gent’s, and Boys races.

Frank Lloyd Headlines Turner's Hall Show in Turnout

Frank Lloyd and his supreme company entertained a large Turner's Hall audience on Monday March 25. Lloyd gave a first class performance with Hello McIntyre and other humorous songs drawing continued approval. Vera L Scott entertained with Two depersonations Four Bars in Go and The Young Wife's First Visit to the Butcher's. Mary Dunnett sang The Carnival of Venice Willarey and other standards with Miss Carson at the piano. The hall was well filled despite road conditions.
