Dominion Youth Training Centre Opens Achievement Night

The Dominion Provincial Community Youth Training Centre hosts an Achievement night in Miniota Hall on Friday March 28 at 8 p.m. Demonstrations include Physical Drill Citizenship Debate and a Sketch Saturday Night. A dance with music by the A.R.O. follows with admission 35c. Achievement 25c dance 25c. Children under 14 20c lunch 10c per plate.

Miniota Ladies Curling Club Wist Drive Ends Season

The Miniota Ladies Curling Club held a whist drive and dance Friday night, well attended. Winners were Miss Ora Watts and A Armitage. Proceeds supported Smokes for Soldiers Over Seas, net $9.50. The Glenlo char ladies quilt raised $27.45, with Mrs C Ellerington the first name drawn.

On March 24 six volunteer war service groups under the Dominion Government unite for a nationwide appeal seeking 5.5 million dollars. Governor General Athlone urges Canadians to provide recreation, relaxation and comforts for sailors soldiers and airmen, noting government will supply rations and equipment but not entertainment. The drive reflects a 50 percent increase in needed funds to support home services for troops.
