The Independent Order of Odd Fellows Parkissimo Lodge 76 of Miniota teams with the Red Cross to recruit blood donors for battlefield wounded in dressing stations and hospitals. In a House of Commons discussion Power argues demobilization must go beyond material rewards. He warns against catering to selfish instincts and urges replacing wartime glamour with lasting peace through constructive rebuilding and real incentives for returning airmen.
H G L Strance argues prairie farmers did not gain during 1940 to 1943. He notes cash income averaged 469 million dollars yearly, below the 1925 to 1929 average of 538 million. He cites Searle Index for costs and says industrial wages rose by at least 25 percent, while farmer income included wartime stock profits from overtime effort.
Eleven top-flight Canadian radio entertainers headline The Liptona're program with Frances Cramer among the cast. Jack Alison serves as musical director, a Canarian boy who once tangled with Rudy Vallee. The show airs Monday through Friday at 3:30 p.m. CDT.
