Miss Nancy Manson Returns From Visit
Miss Nancy Manson, visiting her parents at Alexander, returned home on Saturday. The United W. M. S sale of home cooking and silver tea at Mrs Berwick’s home Saturday raised about $20. A local mixed bonspiel with 14 rinks began Monday with three events and a consolation. Two rinks came from Beulah. The Senior Sewing Class met Thursday at Mrs G Grant’s home and learned arrow-head tacking and there button-hole. Next meeting set for Thursday at Mrs K H Woods’ home.

Murder of Rev. John Pate Reported by Radio Listeners
Radio listeners heard last week a Presbyterian minister Rev. John Pate may have been murdered and buried in a shallow grave. Two men of foreign extraction are being held in connection with the crime as possible suspects. The broadcast notes no definite confirmation and links the case to Pate’s past tenure here about ten years ago.

Horseshoe Club Whist Drive and Dance Draw Large Crowd
The Horseshoe Club at Miniota Hall hosted a well-attended whist drive and dance. Twenty-five tables competed with prizes to Ben Woods and Eric Gibbon, consolations to Mrs Beiber and E A Robinson, then Wilf Hill and his Merrymakers performed into the evening as W Williams sang two songs during intermission.

Minne dosa Magistrate Sentences Bert Clarke on Theft Charge
Magistrate Fleming presided over a police court Tuesday. Bert Clarke faced charges of taking $6 the property of Alex Canbon on or about February 11. Crown Prosecutor George Eakins led witnesses. The magistrate, in summing up, said he would be lenient and committed Clarke to jail for one month.

WI Meeting Program Highlights Arts Talks
The Wednesday WI meeting featured Mrs J Spalding directing the program. Mrs ROM Oliver presented a health paper on Mental Hygiene. Miss J Henderson led talks on Pictures including Gainsborough’s Blue Boy. Miss K Lynch spoke on Carol’s landscape pictures and Miss LR Chalmers on Watts Sir Gala had. Mrs Day closed with home made pictures including cross stitch oil painting and glorified glass. An Irish song was sung by Dorothy Vradenburg Kathleen Spencer and Irene Harlin with Miss K Lynch at the piano. Dering lunch Roll Call answered with an Irish recipe or joke.
