Volunteers with the Canadian Cancer Society meet to craft and deliver cancer dressings. Last year 12,194 patients received these items, showing the impact of community service. Help by joining local efforts or contacting your branch.
The March meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Still had ten members present with Mrs. J. E. Finkbeiner presiding. Mrs. J. Coxworth presented Opportunities for Retirement focusing on inclusion of all ages in one community and lifelong engagement. Fund drives supported Cancer Fund, Heart Fund, and Children’s Aid, with delegates receiving donations for trips.
The West Man area W I group met at Mrs Wes Lelands home on March 8 with 15 members and a visitor. They collected books for the Book Market and praised members Linda Watters Barbara Joseph and Margaret Dale for high placements at 4 H Public Speaking and Senior Competition.
The Women's Institute met at Mrs. Don Green's home on March 8 with seven members and four visitors. Miss M Paynter led opening with the creed. Thought for the day centered on buying pantyhose. A program on opportunities for retirement led by Mrs. K Mann sparked a member discussion. Ways and Means plans cater to the Twin Valley Co op Annual Meeting in Beulah on March 28.
