A disastrous fire at Stevenson flying field in St James last week destroyed the hangar and eight planes. Cause is not yet determined. Provincial Police warn owners of unlicensed autos and defective lights as auto license enforcement tightens across the district.
Law now permits marriages under a County Court judge. The fee is 55 and 2 to the clerk of court. Several conditions must be fulfilled to validly wed.
Poor road conditions due to ice have led to two cars going over the bank this week. Drivers face skidding and little control once sliding begins. A large crowd attended Friday's whist drive and dance at the school run by the Community Link Committee. Twenty tables were filled with prizes won by Ladies Ast, Miss Bill Peel, Consolation Doris McPherson, Gants Ist Carl Hill, Consolation Charlie Peel.
Record entries have been reserved for the Brandon Winter Fair opening Monday and running to Friday. The Canadian Pacific Railway offers a fare and one third for travel to the event, with tickets on sale from the 11th through the 20th. The Lieutenant Governor will declare the fair open.
A large crowd attended the Wheat Pool meeting in Maniota on Tuesday night. C Ellerington chaired and introduced C F Ransom secretary of the Manitoba Wheat Pool who spoke on current conditions and answered questions satisfactorily. The gathering ended with a Vote of thanks to Ransom and the National Anthem.
The A.Y.P.A met at The Rec tory on a Wednesday night for a social evening with games contests and friendly activities. Plans included further gatherings and a bonfire decision was discussed.
A St Patrick's supper will be served in the basement of the United Church Miniota to raise church funds. The event takes place on Saturday the 11th starting at 5.50 PM with admission set at 35 cents.
A Daffodil Tea will be held at the home of Mrs Bally on Thursday March 19 under the auspices of the Girls Auxiliary at Holy Trinity Church. The notice notes concerns about fairness among societies that request public support.

Several tax assessment appeals were reduced or cancelled with remaining appeals not entertained. The next meeting will be called by the Keeve.
