Don Kennedy and I will host a March 6 1973 meeting at Oak River Memorial Hall to discuss new and old weed problems with local farmers. The session includes weed slides and pesticide safety guidance covering exposure routes and protective steps.
In 1972 Hamiota District Hospital expanded and renovated facilities while operating below capacity. Public support reached a peak with donations and volunteer help from Ladies Aid groups, clubs, and individuals totaling 6338 dollars. Memorial books, furnishings, and equipment were donated for wards, solarium, and waiting areas.
Mrs Barnes left last week to visit family in Winnipeg. Misses Nellie and Stella Bray of Kenton moved into suite 6 after the Em ersons left for Brandon. Mr and Mrs Delbridge visited with their son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Johnston at Carberry. Art Glint of Oak River visited Mrs Robertson. Mrs Campbell left to visit Winnipeg and Ontario for granddaughter's wedding. E Baldwin attended Miss Dassie Cochran and Ida Strachan party on February 14 at Mrs Elva Cochranes home. H G Morris visited Central Park Lodge with Edith Foxton. cheerful and comfortable there. Sharon Henderson of Dauphin visited her grandmother Mrs Collie. Mr and Mrs A Curtis of Birtle visited Mrs Bardwell.
Myrna Kelly Julia Oliver and Denise Norrie won second in Grades 7 9 Physical Science for Crystals. Carol Fenty and Carol Gurr took third in Grades 4 6 Environmental for Trees and Their Leaves. Fine Art Festival prep underway in Shoal Lake March 14 15 and 16 with choral and spoken poetry entries. Programs available from Mrs L Gilchrist.
The Birdtail River School Division No 38 held a regular meeting on February 22 1973 at Crandall with Trustees Waddell Jacobs Kreager Lewycky Falloon Armitage Butcher Shier. Motions adopted include minutes February 8 1973, correspondence, salaries, January 1973 financials, and support for Brandon School Division 40 appeal regarding Regional Secondary School funding. adjourned to March 8 1973 at 8 00 PM.
