Mr Ted Maduke spent the weekend at his home. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs J Wiltshire on their 25th wedding anniversary.

Crandall Community Notices Show Deaths and Celebrations

The district notes the death of Mrs. Shoemaker of Virden and Mrs. Cliff Douglas in Kelowna. Mrs. Judy Reid wed Wayne Reid at a June 16 ceremony. Muriel Hankin and Sam Wallace celebrated their June 12, 1937 anniversary. Family and friends gathered in Crandall for prayers, tea, and well wishes. Residents, visitors including Gordon Norrie and E. Shier extended sympathies and attended events across Crandall and area.

Isabella Manitoba community notes recount visitors from Winnipeg Brandon and Montreal. The Isabella Miniota Charge hosts a farewell for Rev Geddes and Mrs Geddes as they move to Coaldale Alberta. Community events include U C W June meeting with devotions and program items featuring local musicians and a luncheon.

Miss Jessie Elliott of Brandon visited friends in Arrow River and stayed with Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Hill. Funeral attendees at Virden included Mr. and Mrs. Alex Sararas and others for Mrs. Shoemaker Sr. Clegg family celebrated 55th wedding anniversary in Birtle with Jim and neighbors. Gail Mitchell returned from Winnipeg study. Mrs. Ivan Tennant joined a Wiggins visit. Farewell for Mr. and Mrs. Geddes and David at Isabella included entertainment. A large gathering respected Mr. and Mrs. Hunkin on a Saturday in June.

Local residents share travel plans and upcoming events. Mr and Mrs T Topps and Doreen departed for a new home in Russell. Miss Myrna Barrett visits ahead of her July 7 wedding to Mr Clark Greene of Middleton NS. John Leland visits his daughter in the Reeder district. Miss Neelands from Vancouver arrives for summer with sister Mrs George Reynolds. Mrs J Stowe attends Brandon College graduation with Freda Weidenhamer of Deloraine among the graduates. The Miniota U C W afternoon unit met in the clean church school room with Mrs Chas Ellerington presiding and Mrs G Reynolds presenting the second part of the Nature of the Church study. The opening worship was led by Mrs A McKean with four readers. June Bible passages read and discussed. Next general meeting set for July 5. no unit meetings in August. Twelve present including visitor Miss D Neelands from Vancouver. Mrs A M Hanlin was host.

Manitoba to Levy Park Fees June 29 1962

Manitoba will start park-user fees in three provincial parks and four recreational areas effective Friday June 29. Fees 50 cents per car day or 3 dollars per car season, applying to both provincial camps and recreation areas to fund development and maintenance. Transient pedlars will face annual vehicle licenses of 25 to 50 dollars, aligning rules with park operators.

McConnell Area 4H Events and Nearby Fairs Planned

The McConnell Fat Stock Show and Sale are set for Saturday with cattle judging at 11:00 p.m. Dinner at 11:30 a.m. and calfs clubs judging moving to 12:30 p.m. A sale of all cattle follows by about 3:30 p.m. The Hamiota Rally, Rivers, Virden, Brandon, Oak River and Hamiota fairs are scheduled between late June and mid July. A $600 CNE 4H scholarship is available to Manitoba 4H members with a July 13 deadline and interviews July 27 in Winnipeg. Last year's winner was James Wilton of Carman.

Woman's Aid To Hamiota District Hospital Meeting Summary

The Woman's Aid to the Hamiota District Hospital No 7A met June 22 in the municipal building at 2 30 p m. Mrs L Wright opened with the hospital prayer. Eleven districts answered roll call. Beulah reported allocation Crandall cited 15 hours mending and Isabella made 53 towels. Treasurer showed a balance of 1073 12 dollars. A linen committee was named to ensure hospital needs are met: Mrs R O Frazer Mrs Riddell Mrs L Wright Mrs A Knight. Lavinia read from the year book and noted a Fraternal Hall event on August 4 at the hall. Mending for July to be done by Harding and McConnell.

A unanimous Weed Control District Board meeting on June 14 1962 moved by Hector Patterson and Franklin Wallace commits to eradicating Canada and Low Thistle on cultivated land in Manitoba. Owners who neglect control face actions under the Noxious Weeds Act with costs charged to land as taxes.
