Bil Spalding of Winnipeg is holidaying at his home in town. Mrs Hanford and Mrs Mills visit the Wm Lindsay home. District attendance at the Virden Pool picnic. Dominion Day closes stores for the holiday. Bert Beard and wife pass through from Detroit to Melville. Citizens discuss and set July 13 for a sports day with 120 for baseball and 25 for ladies softball. Oak River fair conflicts, Miniota’s sports moved to July 14.
New dress shop arrivals feature colorful printed crepes priced at 2.95. United Stotes, Ltd. Miniota advertises the collection with a call to visit and see them. The note ends with a humorous line about a married man and bachelor finances.
Thelma, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Thornton of Birtle, becomes engaged to Mr Charles J Smith of Beulah, son of the late Mr and Mrs John Smit of Pope. The couple plans to marry in mid July.
A pretty wedding was solemnized at the manse Isabella on Thursday evening June 23 at 9 o'clock. Alice Georgene Vietry daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. &. Cooper Shortdale Man married Leslie Sevelle Adams second son of Mr. and Mrs. R.G. Adams Birtle. Rev H I Bowman officiated. The bride wore coral crepe with embroidered bolero and white accessories. The couple will be at home at Hyas Sask after July 1.
Born on Tuesday June 21 at Miniota Hospital to Mr and Mrs Jas Walker a daughter named Gwendoline Irene. Also born June 21 at Miniota Hospital to Mr and Mrs Ivan Sparks a son named Arthur James.
