Tenders are invited for constructing a 4 metal sheeted van shed at Arrow River. Plans and specs are at the secretary treasurer John Spalding's office. tenders due by 5 p.m. on June 30, 1930. Lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
Isabella notes the WMS will meet at Mrs J E Heiss’s home this week. Mr and Mrs W H Miller drove to Winnipeg this week. Maier of Winnipeg is assisting in the garage here for a CME. E Warren left Tuesday to take charge of the station at Rossburn. Mission Band sale of work and home cooking Saturday at 1 pm. Mrs T Stevenson went to Winnipeg for the wedding of Miss I Fraser at month’s end.
The crops in this district look exceptionally well with indications of a bountiful harvest at the present time.
Local notes report Dominion Day being observed as a public holiday with all town stores closed. Mrs N W Jones of Edmonton Alta plans a two week vacation at the home of her parrots Mr and Mrs LD McDonald of Willen.
United Stores Ltd Miniota advertises United Tea at 50c per tin or 5 pounds for 2.55. Miss Myrtle Conway returns from Neepawa for a funeral in Kenton with family. The Hamida and District War Memorial Service will be held on Memorial Grounds Sunday June 2 at 2 o'clock with Rev S J Wickens of Brandon delivering the address.
Vieden organizes a July Jubilee with a parade and sports programme. Shoal Lake Rapid City tlamiota and numerous other places have held meetings to arrange events and activities for the celebration.
A large crowd attended Virden’s sports day sponsored by the Canadian Legion on Thursday. Ball games were one sided but horse races and attractions pleased attendees, with local horsemen featuring in the prize list.
Brandon Fair starts Monday June 1 and runs to Friday night. Management promises an exceptionally excellent program and large attendance from the district. Grandstand attractions are extraordinary and stock entries exceed last year. See advertisement for fair and special train date.
Crowds gathered Sunday afternoon as about a thousand residents attended the Flanders Field tribute. Rev. E S Dixon delivered a moving address on A New Patriotism while Jeeve C. Graham read the roll of honor. Little girls placed poppies on the Cross for each name as Piper Carnegie played The Lament and the community choir performed Kipling and Hallelujah Chorus. The offering totaled 51 dollars 50 cents.
