The Golden Age group met Wednesday afternoon at the Barrett home in Miniota for a June gathering moved up a week. Thirty seven members and several visitors attended. Music by Chas Craig and a Piper group from Virden followed a lunch prepared by local volunteers. A note invited all to Crandall Hall July 20 for a sixty year marriage celebration.

Park Residence notes a Shoal Lake Glee Club visit entertaining residents and guests with music. Lunch was served by the ladies. Several residents and visitors are mentioned, including Bob Wilson in hospital, Mrs. H. Gregory of Brandon visiting sister-in-law Elsie Gregory, and Mrs. Collie’s Regina trip with son and daughter-in-law. Three area crews competed in the Virden tournament on Sunday June 1. Arrow River Aces won two of three while dropping to Sounders. Miniota Roys fell to Oak Lake. Miniota Ladies won two and lost to Minot in the final. Team rosters include Gardham Watters Armitage and Gardner among others.

Health Centre News Promising Plans for Local Housing Facility
On Thursday June 12 Hamidta District Health Centre councillors joined the Governing Board and Staff to discuss nursing home housing for the area. Manitoba Health Services Commission and Manitoba Housing Renewal Corporation outlined surveys and planning. Officials said a facility could be built next year or the following year and asked the community to indicate care levels and location near the Health Centre. The Governing Board and Park Residence Senior Citizens Committee will seek community input at next meetings before advising municipal councils and submitting to the government. No local funds are required, but the province will hear from many communities with similar needs.
