Margaret Perry left last week for Ottawa to take a civil service post while William Bonner and Francis Leland have enlisted in the Royal Canadian Army and begin training in Winnipeg.
Father’s Day is noted with an autumn gift display. The store offers gift suggestions and wrapping for purchases. Local notes mention visits by Bob Woods and Major Carruthers as guest speaker. a gasless aeroplane landing. a theft by traveling gypsies with $25 recovered. residents travel to favored Lake and Trenton.
The Canadian armed forces call for young men to enlist continues with traveling recruiting boards visiting nearby towns. In Manitoba they will be at Virmé on June 13 Elk Horn on June 16 Birtle on June 17 and Hamiota on June 19 from 9 am to 5 pm. Details are available from R. M. Oliver of Miniota.
T. Jasper, D. Cunningham and W. Berwick attended the Masonic Grand Lodge session held in Winnipeg last week.
A substantial gathering attended the ordination service held at St Matthews pro cathedral in Brandon on the previous Sunday, reflecting strong local participation and support.
A string of local visits includes A E Aspinwall returning from Brandon to reside in town and several Winnipeg Vancouver and Detroit guests at area homes. The Miniota W I meets this week and MV R members take Oath of Allegiance at a parade with Corp D Brims M P speaking.
