More than 26 000 Saskatchewan children born in 1949, about 19 percent, have received the first dose of Salk vaccine. Health officials plan organized regional follow ups to reach the missed children and will administer the first dose to those who were absent. Roads and other factors delayed many on the original vaccination day while nurses will return for second doses and vaccinate those missed.
