Memorable Meeting Between Lloyd George and Eamon De Valera
London reports a two and a half hour Downing Street talk between Prime Minister Lloyd George and Irish republican leader Eamon de Valera. They discussed possible terms for a conference table involving Ulster and looked toward a joint communique. The meeting drew fervent prayers and was described as cordial with substantial grounds for hope of settlement. De Valera cited Southern Ireland commitments, limiting unqualified replies to some proposals. Both sides warned against irreconcilable issues and avoided any rupture during the talks.
