Measure Would Confirm Autopac Differentials
Manitoba legislation seeks to legalize Autopac premium classifications by age sex and marital status for driver and vehicle insurance. Highways Minister Harry Enns says under 25 male drivers, and unmarried young drivers pay higher rates, with females under 25 also paying more than older counterparts. Without changes the industry would incur large revenue losses, prompting retention of current classifications. Proposals also allow employers to inquire about handicaps with limited exceptions for race religion or color.
