Farm Notes Urge Timely Fertilizer After Brome Harvest
Agricultural advisories stress applying fertilizer soon after bromegrass harvest for high yields. Nitrogen at 60 pounds and 15 to 20 pounds P205 may be needed, with soil tests guiding rates. Fall nitrogen proves superior, with late August applications yielding far more seed per acre than spring applications. Crop specialists also urge mowing grass headlands to curb ergot in cereals.
