Mr and Mrs W Copland and Stanley returned on Tuesday from their trip to Vancouver. Mrs Gwen Taylor left on Monday to resume teaching duties at Pioneer School near Asherh.
Miss Annie Ellerington recently had an operation in Winnipeg and is recovering, with improvements noted though further procedures may be needed. Doctors hope she will recover fully and be able to return home in time.
The previous issue argued relief payments by the city, and now the council explains the expenditure eight dollars weekly. It notes residents receive aid here to save money, avoiding board costs or furnished housing, fuel and meals if relocated. The remarks aim to reassure concerned residents about relief policy.
S Christianson of Miniota Creamery named Butter King of Canada at Winnipeg butter exhibit. His butter scored 1651.8 of 1700, winning silver trophy from Banque Nationale and Bank of Montreal silver cup for top 142 box entry. He earned 86 dollars, five silver cups and a silver medal.
The Miniota United Church congregation gathered Thursday night. Rev J A Stephen thanked the members for loyalty and services. Officers unchanged include W D Berwick, Dr Chalmers, J D Foryth, J R Lynch, J Spalding, organist Mrs J R Lynch, Sunday School superintendent D J A Dahlgren, and representative to Conference J R Lynch. A vote of thanks praised the school board for vans provided free of charge to attendees.
