Manitoba plans new foundation program for education funding
A new foundation program will standardize school funding across Manitoba, with the province covering 65 percent of costs and local taxpayers 35 percent. The plan introduces a universal levy, stabilizing mill rates, and allows districts to offer enriched curricula with extra levies. Birdtail River School Division 38 held a Shoal Lake meeting January 12 1967 at 806 pm adopting January 6 minutes and receiving correspondence. January 16 session approved minutes, approved payment to Frank Horeczy, began building program for Hamiota and Birtle, planned talks with Pelly Trail and Rolling River on boundary changes, formed a submission committee, and set next meeting for January 23 1967.
