Archie Council meets at Jas Byers home with all members present. Reeve chairs as declarations of office made. The bridge committee plans a complimentary banquet for Hon. J. H. Agnew to celebrate the completion of the new bridge. The event will be at Miniota Hall on Friday February 8 at 9 p.m. Non partisan in tone, members from both sides are invited and a program of speeches and songs is being arranged. Invitations will be issued soon.
Wednesday evening the Miniota bachelors held a well attended ball at Miniota Hall with about eighty couples from Hamiota Crandell Arrow River Two Creeks Declare Beulah Birtle and nearby areas. Rev Thomas spoke for the married men, thanking the bachelors and urging a return favor. The event featured an orchestra Geo Mappin singing and dancing that lasted into morning.
A city masquerade at Turners Hall drew about twenty five couples with elegant costumes led by Mrs Hunter and H R Scott. Miss Doyle impressed as a holy friar then road to ruin, while J Forsythe won the comic prize. The dance ran from 10 p m to 4 30 a m and a country school inspector later struggled to manage two dictations while fearing a missed train.
