School bonspiel participants from Miniota High
Two riales from Miniota High School took part in the school bonspier at Foxwarren last Saturday. The longregation of Holy Trinity plans its annual meeting after Evensong on Sunday, January 25. Miss E Reynolds, Mrs S Bell, Elaine Curry, Catherine Koch and Margaret Leland attended Isabella Drama Workshop on January 10. Mrs G Reynolds attends United Church leaders and officers event in St Augustine Winnipeg this week. Mrs Reg Bryant was severely scalded by a kettle spill and will be bedbound for a time. Fay also received burns.

Local residents attended a January 14 event sponsored by Miniota Consumers Cooperative in Arrow River District 3. Kris Dyck spoke on Vertical Integration for industry and farming, stressing keeping youths on the farm, cooperative benefits, and human behavior in business. Meetings at Miniota Beulah Wynona Arrow River featured audience entertainment and lunch by board members.

Noted Local Farmer Succumbs After Long Service
Obituary notes a local farmer who worked for Les Shoemaker then occupied the D. Sutherland farm. He left Carman about three years ago and is survived by his wife and four children John Abe Diane and Henry.

United Church Congregation Meeting and Notices
The United Church congregation met on January 12 with twenty six present as a Pot Luck dinner preceded the annual meeting. R. E. Clegg’s resignation from the Session was accepted with regret. Archie Hill and Jim Kirton retired from the Board of Ste along with Joe Bonner Crandall. replacements chosen. Arrow River Mixed Bonspiel set for February 2 with a limit of 16 rinks and an entry fee of eight dollars.

The United W A M S met at Mrs G Reynolds home last Thursday. Mrs G Long was reappointed president with new officers including 1st vice president Mrs F Rowan and secretary Mrs J Stowe. Donations were approved and reports presented. The Bible study was led by Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Strachan.
