Ellis Sparks elected World Friend Secretary at Mission Band
At the Mission Band meeting on Wednesday Ellis Sparks was elected World Friend Secretary. An installation service followed as officers were installed. Mrs W A Barrett read Manuel makes a Wish. A Brazilian game was enjoyed. Helpers quickly tied a carload of wood shavings and sawdust from the track and insulated the Community Centre hall ceiling and south wall to a depth of about ten inches.

Income Tax Dept Speaker to Address Miniota Meeting
The Income Tax Department with MFAC will present a talk at the Miniota Municipal Hall on Saturday January 31 at 8 pm covering income tax basics and problem questions. Farmers are urged to attend. A Ladies Bridge Club Telephone Bridge raised 14 for the Community Centre with high scores by Mrs C E Johnson and C W Ellerington despite poor weather and roads hindering rural participation.

Obituary for Mosheral and Community Hall Opening at Willon
A former Miniota resident and Manito Hardware bookkeeper Mosheral died January 2 in Kenton. Born 1878 in Washington Ontario, he served 22 years as secretary treasurer of Woodworth municipality and is survived by his wife, son Charles, and daughter Gladys. Charles Motheral built a new residence on South Railway Ave. Willon will host a new community hall opened with a Bowles Orchestra dance, funded by public subscription and Archie municipality on a 50 50 basis to replace the fire destroyed hall, meeting a long need for the district.

Rural caretaker pay set at 1.00 per day. Budget adopted at 46 975.00 for 1948.

School levy and salaries approved in 1948 budget meeting
At Miniota Isabella and Beulah the monthly amounts rise by 10 dollars from January 1 1948. The Secretary-Treasurer will earn 900 dollars. Total payments approved amount to 8388 23. The Special School Levy remains at 105 10 mills with any excess to come from the Surplus fund. Next meeting set for Miniota at the chair’s call.
