Miniota Church Sunday School Holds Annual Meeting

The Miniota United Church Sunday School met at J W Clarke’s home on a Tuesday evening in January. Attendance ran around 90 per Sunday, about 75 percent of enrollment, with reports praised by teachers and officers. An Educational Superintendent was introduced to oversee studies and memory work and prepare students for future church work. Officers and teachers elected include Educational Superintendent J W Clarke, Junior Choir teacher Phyllis Dorward, organist Mrs Bersick, Primary Mrs G Rowan, Junior Girls Margaret Rowan, Junior Boys Laurette Chalmers, Intermediate Boys Jordon Lang, Young Ladies Miss Spencer, Young Men Mr Dahlgren, Adult Bible Class Mr Franklin. A hearty supper followed and thanks were voiced to Mr. Clarke.

School Trustees Meeting Sets 1932 Chalmers as Chairman

A board meeting in the Municipal Hall with all trustees present elected Dr. R. K. Chalmers as chairman for 1932. Trustees discussed rescinding a 1951 reappointment, teacher and secretary-treasurer salary reductions, caretaker hires, and transportation payments. The next session is set for Beulah on February 2 at 7 pm.

Rural Council Minutes Set 1932 Actions and Appointments

The Rural Council held its first meeting of the year and swore in new councillor E. Mark. It appointed John Spalding secretary treasurer for 1932 at 1450 dollars, set caretaker salary at 1032, and named Fred C Bennett as legal advisor for a 2 dollar retainer. The meeting approved bylaw on borrowing, approved road work, granted 250 dollars to Minicta hospital, hired telephone staff with specified pay, appointed G. Melior as Assessor, set indemnity at 3 dollars per day, and arranged tax and levy policies including tax payments, penalties, and school funding adjustments.

Annual W.M. Meeting Held at Mrs. Johnson Home

The annual meeting of the W.M. was held at the home of Mrs. M. H. Johnson on Wednesday. A very satisfactory year was reported with Mrs. J. L. Woods elected President and Mrs. J. A. Frezer as Sectre. Convenors were listed as Mrs. Harren for Christian Stewardship and Mrs. Chisolm for Associate Helpers.

St Wilfrid's Church Holds Annual Meeting

The annual meeting of St Wilfrid's church was held last week with good attendance. Rev. W. Finch chaired. Officers elected include wardens W. Littley and G. Heyhoe and vestry members Messrs Coldman Green Stanton Hall Stretton Clarke Walker Sawyer and Howard. The Sunday School superintendent and W A president gave encouraging reports as the congregation looks to a year of increased activity and service.
