Vesper Service At Miniota By CGLT Group
Miniota CGLT group held its annual vesper service in the Collegiate Auditorium on December 18. Miss Gertrude Patmore wrote this year’s program and Beth Armitage led the service with Arlene Armitage as candlelighter. Indian themed Living Picture depicted the Nativity with Mary and Joseph, Indian Hunters as shepherds, and chieftains presenting gifts, while background music included Jean de Brebouf’s Huron Carol.

The Miniota Merry Homemakers met in the Miniota Collegiate Auditorium on December 15 with 29 members present. They planned a Christmas Family Party for December 27 and decided to send Christmas cards to the elderly. A W.L member attended, a group photo was taken for community history, and another for the scrapbook. Members received green sheets.

Christmas Service and Party at Holy Trinity Sunday School
The annual Christmas service and party of Holy Trinity Sunday School was held December 18 with Linda Goodwin leading the service and the choir singing What Child Is This. Children presented sacred items, and Mr. McTaggart conducted a white gift ceremony placing gifts at the manger.

The Great North Western Bonspiel returns to North Western Manitoba with a January 9 start in Birtle. Features include social activities, better prizes, and a new Centennial Bowl trophy. The event recalls the era of the old North Western trains and the 1902 first Birtle bonspiel.

Miniota Hosts Dauphin 12U in Hockey Clinic Weekend
A hockey clinic at Miniota Arena welcomed the Dauphin 12 and under team for a weekend. Two games occurred with the hosts hosting the Dauphin squad Saturday, Juniors billeted with local families, and a Sunday toboggan party at Martin's hill before the teams headed home. On December 17 Miniota 12U beat Kenton 6 to 3 with Brad Andrews scoring four goals and Dennis and Glenn Myron adding one each.

Members of the Golden Age group enjoyed a Christmas afternoon hosted by the Miniota Women's Institute at the Community Centre. Guests from Wilson Beulah Isabella Arrow River and Crandall attended. Santa distributed gifts while J Cook provided accordion music. Carol singing by High School pupils and all joined in We Wish You a Merry Christmas. December birthdays noted for Reynolds and others.
