A boy Thurlo wanders from home into a forest, finds Fairyland beyond a wall, where a sprite transforms him into an animal. His mother journeys to the fairy fortress and learns she must reclaim him by commanding “Change again.” She retrieves a cat, cock, and rabbit, and only the cat returns Thurlo to human form after a robber kills the rabbit. The tale ends with Thurlo living with his mother until her death.
The story follows Aoki the kindly heir and his cruel brother Lupi who schemes to seize power. Lupi lures the king to a trap, but Aoki survives with help from an Angel god. Aoki later rallies boomerang weapons to defeat Lupi and reclaim his throne. The tale blends mythic trial, magical intervention, and a clever military turnaround.
