Mrs. Meeste aims to visit relatives en route. Brownie Pack held a Silver Tea at Mrs. J W Clarke's home raising about 2.50 for uniforms. D D Sister Jones and D D Sister Saunderson of Brandon visited Lodge Aner to install officers. Coal shortages in Regina force closing of schools and churches to conserve supply. Mayor McAra issued the order.

Manitoba Exchange to Promote Self Supporting Community

The Manitoba Occupational and Barter exchange plans to present a plan to the public in Winnipeg next week. It aims to organize the unemployed into a self supporting community through labor exchange and the use of scrip money.

Roblin School Closure Follows April Council Request

The Roblin council asked the school board to close the school for April and the board complied. It also states each of the three trustee representatives will receive 25 dollars to attend the convention, with funds to come from local sources.

Deportation of Southern Russian Villages Reported

Reports say the entire populations of three southern Russian villages were deported to Siberian lumber camps as exemplary punishment for alleged noncooperation with the government’s drive to raise agricultural output.

Anglian Y P A Enjoy Pleasant Evening At Spencer Home

The Anglican Y P A held a warm Wednesday gathering at Mr and Mrs A Spencer with six tables of whist despite severe weather. Prizes went to Miss Verna Hill and Les Horner, followed by dancing to Charlie and Fred Bryant. A dainty lunch was served and the meeting closed with the song For They Are Jolly Good Fellows. The society thanks the Spencers for their hospitality.

Miniota Village ratepayers hold annual meeting

The Miniota ratepayers assembly was held Tuesday afternoon with annual reports and a financial statement showing smooth operations. J W Horner was re-elected for three years as committee man and the secretary was asked to approach Hydro about street lighting hours. Dr Chal mers appointed auditor.

Archbishop Stringer Tours Maritimes Amid Boot Odysseys

Archbishop I. O Stringer met crowds in Moncton en route through New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on a lecture tour. Journal entries from 1909 recount him and an assistant lost in the north country subsisting on rawhide, boot soles, and scraps, with days of travel, meager meals, and fatigue.
