Walter Zarecki Named To Manitoban Agricultural Credit Board

Walter Zarecki reeve of the Rural Municipality of Lac du Bonnet was named to the board of directors of the Manitoban Agricultural Credit Corporation. Agriculture Minister Sam Uskiw announced the appointment as part of a roster including Dilace L'W. Leggat as manager and H. J. Andresen as chairman. The board also lists Harold L. McKay Peter Wagner and Emil Shellborn as directors. The corporation offers a package line of credit to help farmers diversify and increase cattle and sheep production through livestock loans.

The first layman to head the United Church of Canada ends his term, plans to volunteer medical aid in Asia for leprosy and tuberculosis victims. Robert McClure, 70, declined a $16,000 salary, taking only living allowance and pension. A. B. Moore elected to replace him as moderator. The term lasts two years. The moderator wields limited power beyond influencing divisions and fundraising.

Manitoba Motor Vehicle Branch Emits Names for War Amputations

Winnipeg The motor vehicle branch will provide the names of about 300 000 registered passenger car owners to the War Amputations of Canada at one cent per name, rather than ten cents. Names will be put on computer tape and sent to the organization. The group then sends a miniature licence plate key chain with a voluntary fee invitation and offers to return lost keys.
